The name of Trinidad is a tribute to the population called Santísima Trinidad that was raised during the 16th century, which is located on the southern coast of Cuba.

The origins of Trinidad as a Habanos brand date back to 1969, and for many years, like the Cohiba brand, it was only used as a state gift for high-ranking foreign dignitaries. It was in 1998 when this brand was made available to smokers around the world, but yes, in very limited quantities.

In its beginnings, the brand had a single vitola: Fundadores. In 2003 its vitolario was expanded with the launch of Reyes, Coloniales and Robusto Extra. A new brand image was also introduced, more modern and consistent with the extraordinary quality of its Habanos.

In 2009 the Trinidad Robustos T was introduced to complete the brand's range.

Trinidad Habanos were manufactured for a long time in El Laguito, Cohiba's historic factory, with a very characteristic blend of selected filler and binder tobaccos from the Vuelta Abajo area, which make them unique and very exclusive. Today it is manufactured in Pinar del Río , the most important city in the Vuelta Abajo tobacco area.
